Final preparations underway. Off to Banff tomorrow, stopping in Calgary overnight.

Bonus visit and dinner with nephew Lex and off to the Banff Centre and the conference on Friday morning.

Saturday morning I will be interviewed by Hal Wake and the plan is to discuss some of the issues around writing a challenging memoir and what happens once such a book hits store shelves and the media.

Looking forward to meeting some of Canada’s best Creative Non-fiction writers attending the conference, and am mindful of the honour of being invited into such company.

Dear Petals,

(with a nod to Stephanie Pearl-McPhee

I’ve been more than a little remiss in the dark art of blogging for a couple of years.

There’s been a writing disconnect for a good long while, due to ill health and a more than usually insecure housing situation. It takes a surprising amount of energy to recover from a health crisis. A great deal of knitting is required.

Then, since I’m now happily cruising toward my seventieth birthday, I thought I might as well noodle on.

So here I am, a writer just surfacing from a long cocoon of suspended animation and knitting, with a nifty new blog to write.

What could possibly go wrong? Or, um, right?

There is, of course, the matter of what I will write about. Lists of research topics? Occasional bright ideas? Drafts of project bits? Crazy knitting reports? Yarn & fibre stash accumulation confessions? The detritus of life being lived?

Likely all of the above.

I hope you will stop by now and then to say hello…
